The Manitoba Junior Hockey League pre-season will get underway in Souris on Wednesday, Aug. 31, as the expansion Niverville Nighthawks will take to the ice for the first time against the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Weyburn Red Wings at 7:30 p.m.

The exhibition slate, which runs through Sept. 12, will see a handful of crossover games for Westman clubs against teams from other leagues.

The defending MJHL champion Dauphin Kings will welcome the SJHL’s Melville Millionaires and Yorkton Terriers to Credit Union Place on Sept. 10 and 11, while the Superior International Junior Hockey League’s Kam River Fighting Walleye will visit the Neepawa Titans on Sept. 6.

A home-and-home series between the Estevan Bruins — who won the SJHL title last spring — and the Virden Oil Capitals will take place on Sept. 9 in Virden and Sept. 10 in Estevan.

The Waywayseecapo Wolverines will travel to Yorkton to face the Terriers on Sept. 6 before playing the Bruins the following night in Ochapowace, Sask.
