The Assiniboine Community College Cougars women’s hockey team posted a 3-1 record over the weekend at the Manitoba Women’s Junior Hockey League’s Lieutenant Governors Invitational Tournament in Winnipeg.
The Cougars picked up wins over the Winnipeg Silvertips, Prairie Blaze and Northern Stars to earn a spot in Sunday’s semifinal, where they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Western Predators.
Kasey Fouillard led the way on offence during the weekend with two goals and four assists. Madison Haliuk recorded two goals and two assists each in four games, while Payton Malchuk lit the lamp three times.
Geneva Penner and Megan Beswitherick split netminding duties.
The Cougars return to American Collegiate Hockey Association action on Saturday, Feb. 4 when the Dakota College at Bottineau Ladyjacks visit the Sportsplex. The two sides square off in Bottineau, N.D., the following afternoon.
ACC was originally slated to welcome the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs club team to town, but they cancelled the trip due to a lack of players.
