Dani Black dropped 15 points to lead the Neelin Spartans varsity girls’ basketball team to a 72-34 victory over the Virden Golden Bears in the Neelin Invitational Tournament quarterfinals on Friday.
Fiona Garcia paced all scorers with 25 for Virden.
The Spartans take on the Stonewall Rams in the semifinals after the Rams edged the Vincent Massey Vikings 46-45.

On the other half of the bracket, Dauphin downed Garden Valley 49-35 as Julia Loewen scored 12 points for the Clippers.
They play the Crocus Plainsmen, who beat the Margaret Barbour Spartans 69-39 with Kylie Kulman posting a game-high 12 points.
The semifinals are today at 11:40 a.m. Both Brandon teams play on home court. The final is at Neelin at 3 p.m.
The boys’ tournament had three pools of three with each team playing twice on Friday.
Neelin beat Gilbert Plains 84-45 as Max Winters racked up 18 points and smoked Virden 98-36 to win Pool A.
Massey opened with a 92-42 win over Dauphin as Brannigan Ferland notched 18 points. The Vikings beat the Neepawa Tigers to win their pool.
Garden Valley won the other pool as Owen Dyck netted 18 points in a 58-38 win over Ste. Anne, setting up a winner-take-all tilt with the Plainsmen.
Crocus downed Ste. Anne 54-44 in the opening game, but fell 69-49 to GVC to finish second in the pool.
The teams re-pool for today’s games, playing teams that finished in the same place in their respective pools.
