Madison Kwiatkowski put up 22 points as the Neelin Spartans edged the Elmwood Giants 64-62 in the quarterfinals at AAA varsity girls basketball provincials in Thompson on Thursday.

Dani Black dropped 20 points for Neelin, with Tyra Lasuik adding 13.

The Spartans take on the John Taylor Pipers in the semifinals today at 12:30 p.m. Sanford upset No. 1 St. James 53-47 and will play Beliveau in the other semifinal.

On the boys’ side, top-seed Neelin bounced the host R.D. Parker Trojans 68-36 to earn a semifinal against Garden Valley today at 2:30 p.m.

Nelson McIntyre plays Elmwood in the other semifinal.
