Brandon’s Ethan Stewart of the Dauphin Kings had a goal and an assist for Canada West but they fell 4-3 in a shootout to Canada East at the four-team Junior A Challenge on Monday evening in Trois-Rivières, Que.
Stewart’s primary assist came on the tying goal by Brody Green with one minute remaining in regulation with the goalie pulled.
Brandon’s Colten Worthington of the Virden Oil Capitals also plays for Team West, which meets the United States on Wednesday.
Canada West fell 6-2 to Sweden on Sunday. Stewart had an assist in that game. Former Brandon Wheat Kings prospect Tao Flory of the Melfort Mustangs took a pair of penalties.
The semifinals are on Friday, with the medal games on Saturday.
