• 40 YEARS AGO — The undefeated Waskada Orioles won their sixth straight game as they blasted the Deloraine Royals 18-2 in a South West Baseball League game. Winning pitcher Ralph Smart twirled a four-hitter and helped his own cause with a home run and two singles.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Lowell Froese burned the Wawanesa Brewers with a three-run home run and earned the win on the mound to lead the host Arden Dreamers to a 7-4 triumph in Santa Clara Baseball League action. Froese struck out four while scattering five hits over seven innings of work and homered in the fourth. Scott Beers took the loss, giving up seven runs on seven hits over seven innings of work with five strikeouts.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Stacey Parsons scored 28 points to lead the Navy Seals past the Ballers 62-58 in an A&W Bobcats Women’s Spring Basketball League at BU gymnasium. Lindsay Hunter scored 20 points in a losing cause. Allyson Menzies had 17 points for the Blue Devils in their 51-50 triumph over the Yellow Members, who got 19 points from Heather Couzens.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Bryce Stevenson struck out four batters and didn’t allow a run in five innings as he led the Minnedosa Mavericks to a 7-1 home win over the Ebb and Flow Lakers in the Santa Clara Baseball League. Kevin Sandstrom led the offensive attack for the Mavericks (3-0-2) going 2-for-4 with a home run, while Darcy Malcolm went 1-for-3 for Minnedosa.
