Shayne MacGranachan hit a walk-off home run in the fifth inning to give the RFNOW Cardinals a 10-0 mercy-rule victory over the Giants in Game 1 of their best-of-three Andrew Agencies Senior AA Baseball League semifinal at Sumner Field on Thursday.
MacGranachan went 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs, while Buddy Mayert added a double and two RBI. Joel Krentz was 2-for-2 with two runs and a pair of RBI for the Cards.
Adam Hartman earned the win, allowing two hits and striking out six batters in four innings.
Jared Bridges took the loss, giving up nine runs in 3 2/3 innings. Ian Barr and Ravi Hunter recorded the Giants’ hits.
Game 2 goes Monday at 6:50 p.m., following the second game of the GW Vacuum Truck Service Young Guns and Sisson Auto Cubs series at 3:30 p.m.
The Young Guns lead 1-0 after a 10-0 triumph on Tuesday.
Barring upsets, the rematch of last year’s best-of-five league final, which the Cardinals won 3-2, will start on Aug. 4.
