Ryden Hargreaves and Evan Nachtigall went 14 under on 36 holes for a second-place finish at the Prairie Scratch Tour’s Selkirk Shootout on Sunday.

The format is two-man “better ball” meaning teammates play their own balls but only record the lower score each hole.

The Brandon duo shot a bogey-free, 6-under 65 on Saturday. On Sunday, they eagled the par-5 ninth hole and birdied the 10th to open up a three-shot lead before four straight pars let winners Curtis Markusson and Neel Soni back into it.

Hargreaves and Nachtigall birdied three of the last four holes to fire 63 without dropping a shot but lost by two strokes as Soni and Markusson went 9 under on their last 11 holes.

The Prairie Scratch Tour is off until its Summer Showdown at Gimli’s Links at the Lake on Aug. 27-28 as Golf Manitoba’s major schedule kicks off this week.
