Long-time Brandon sports coach Bob Nevill died Wednesday evening. He was 81.
The long-time community leader taught at Crocus Plains and assistant coached the 1987 Plainsmen football team to their historic provincial championship. It was the only time a non-Winnipeg team has captured the Winnipeg High School Football League’s top title.
Nevill worked alongside Bill Moody with the Bobcats women’s basketball team in the 1970s and 1980s and later refereed the game at the university level.
He also worked as a Western Hockey League scout in the western Manitoba region.
