A late goal spoiled a great rally by the Brandon University Bobcats women’s soccer team on Sunday in Otterburne.
Bailee Ploshynsky scored twice as BU (1-2-2) came back from a 2-0 deficit in its Manitoba Colleges’ Athletic Conference game, but a late marker by the Providence University College Pilots
(5-1-0) gave them a 3-2 victory.
BU’s men’s team (1-6-0) didn’t make out as well, falling 5-1 to the Pilots (3-3-1) on Sunday and 6-0 to the host Université de Saint Boniface Les Rouges (5-0-0) on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the playoff hopes of the Assiniboine Community College Cougars women’s soccer team (0-3-2) took a big hit on the weekend as they fell 1-0 to the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers (1-4-1) on Sunday at CFB Shilo and 3-0 to the Red River College Rebels (4-1-0) on Saturday. ACC now sits in fifth place, two points back of CMU for the final playoff spot.
ACC’s men’s team (1-6-0) also struggled on the weekend, falling 4-1 to CMU (3-2-2) on Sunday and 5-1 to Red River College (5-0-0) on Saturday. Robert Neumann had the Cougars’ goal on Sunday.
