Keith Van Wellegham had himself a night as the Altus Cubs evened their best-of-three Andrew Agencies Senior AA Baseball League semifinal series with a 9-0 victory on Monday at Andrews Field.
Van Wellegham threw a three-hitter for the win, while going 3-for-4 at the plate, stealing a pair of bases, scoring twice and driving in two runs.
Sean Clegg took the loss.
The teams meet in Game 3 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Oak River Dodgers closed out their best-of-five North Division final series with a 10-7 victory over the visiting Virden Oilers in South West Baseball League action on Monday.
The Dodgers struck for runs in each of the first five innings, and held on as the Oilers scored three in the top of the seventh to make it close.
Dayton Heino, Ty Paddock and Reece Ciprick each scored twice, with Paddock closing out the game for the save. Ciprick earned the win, going 3 2/3 innings and giving up four runs, just one of them earned, on seven hits and two walks.
Jeff Peel went the distance, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits, three walks and one hit batter. Tanner Lewis had a pair of hits and an RBI for Virden.
Oak River will meet the Boissevain Centennials in a rematch of last year’s final, which was won by Boissevain.
