Garrett Popplestone had three hits, drove in a run and scored two himself to help the GW Vacuum Truck Service Young Guns to a 9-7 win over the Fowler Hyundai Marlins in Andrew Agencies Senior AA Baseball League play at Andrews Field on Thursday.
Jordan Old picked up the win for the Young Guns (10-1-1) giving up four earned runs on nine hits and fanning two batters in five innings.
Darcy Simard, Justin Chuchmuch and Ryan Boguski each had three hits for the Marlins (4-7-0).
Jeff Wiebe was charged with the loss.
Meanwhile in the South West Baseball League, Curtis Plett pitched a complete eight-inning game to lead the Virden Oilers to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Oak River Dodgers (9-5-1).
Plett gave up two earned runs on seven hits and recorded four strikeouts for Virden (7-7). Jeff Peel went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a single.
Ty Paddock hit a solo shot for Oak River.
Riley Shamray threw 2/3 of an inning in relief and took the loss.
In Hartney, Jesse Linner went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI as the host Hoppers closed out their season with a 10-6 win over the Boissevain Centennials.
Del Cowan doubled and scored three times while Finn Druwe went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Brayden Teetaert went the distance to collect the win after scattering six runs on seven hits and six walks.
Skylar Canada was tagged with the loss for Boissevain (9-4). He was charged with seven runs in 4 1/3 innings. Jordan Foote homered and plated two runs for the visitors, while Matt McCorrister scored twice.
In Santa Clara league play, the Neepawa Cubs improved to 8-5-1 with a 15-6 triumph over the Austin A’s (2-13-0).
