It was a quiet opening day to the Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games in Morden, Winkler and the RM of Stanley on Sunday, but it was a good one for Westman’s boys’ hockey team.
Cole Kirkup and Kolby Chen both had a goal and two assists as Westman opened their tournament with a 6-1 win over Parkland. Brian Harris, Alex Cook and Dexter Dalgleish all had a goal and a helper for Westman, while Connor Gutenberg also found the back of the net. Josh Brook replied for Parkland.
The first games in the boys’ hockey tournament and the opening ceremonies were the only activities on Sunday.
The boys’ hockey round-robin continues today. Cross-country skiing, boys’ and girls’ curling, gymnastics and ringette all start today.
