Delegates from 130 countries, including Canada, adopted the agenda as part of the five-day conference organized by the Swedish government.

This fall marks the beginning of the International Baccalaureate diploma program at Neelin High School, giving local high school students a chance to be recognized at an international level. The two-year IB diploma is a program that incorporates multi-disciplines, reaching across a minimum of five subject areas, including language, second language, history, math, science and arts, with three taken at a higher level. There are 11 students registered for the program.

Travis Fifi may want to forget his final round at the Canadian mid-amateur golf championship, but his first experience at a national event is one he’ll treasure for a while. The 27-year-old Brandonite struggled at the Golf Chateau-Bromont course in Quebec, posting a 12-over 84 on Friday. That put the Shilo Country Club member in 68th place at 16 over at the 72-hole competition. Although he would have liked to place higher, Fifi was still proud of some of his accomplishments there.
A man once dubbed the Fake Beard Bandit and due to be married in three weeks was charged Friday in a bloody crossbow attack that left three people dead. Wearing white coveralls and fumbling with his fingers, Brett Ryan, 35, of Toronto, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder during a brief court appearance.
