Teresa Stasila, a grocery manager at the west-end Brandon Sobeys, raised more than $12,000 for charity by camping out in front of the store over the course of a weekend in late November.

TEN YEARS AGO

The Manitoba Métis Federation has embarked on a plan to build two new affordable housing units in Brandon, following the completion of a similar project in Winnipeg. The provincial NDP yesterday announced that three families had been welcomed into safe, affordable homes in Winnipeg, the first housing funded under a multi-year, $5.5-million partnership between the Manitoba government and the MMF.

Giorgio Estephan scored twice and Tyler Wong had three points as the opportunistic Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-3 at Westman Place on Friday. Lethbridge (20-10-0-0) capitalized on both of its power-play chances and scored three goals in less than three minutes in the second period for the Western Hockey League victory.
