Police nabbed 13 motorists for drinking and driving during the third week of the RCMP’s holiday checkstop program. Between Dec. 15 and Dec. 21, 13 drivers were charged with either impaired driving or driving over .08.
Canadian tennis star Milos Raonic capped his season Friday by winning the Lionel Conacher Award for the second year in a row. The honour is awarded annually to the Canadian Press male athlete of the year.
Brandon’s Tanya Tagaq has added another award to an already accolade-filled 2014. Tagaq was named The Globe and Mail’s Artist of the Year on Wednesday. Her album, “Animism,” captured the Polaris Prize earlier this year, along with the $30,000 award. Tagaq beat out rapper Drake and the band Arcade Fire to win the prize.
