The movie will star Jeff Daniels, who was recently nominated for a best actor Golden Globe award for his work in “The Squid and The Whale,” and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a former child actor best known for his role as alien Tommy Solomon on the sitcom “3rd Rock from the Sun.”

A Syrian family of nine fleeing the war-torn nation has been matched with a local sponsor, and — if all goes according to plan — will arrive in Brandon by early 2016. A mother, father and their seven children between the ages of four and 17 will be sponsored by “Neighbours 2 Newcomers,” a group effort of several local churches.
