Space-hungry clubs in Neepawa are eyeing the vacant Viscount School, but few can handle its $12,000 annual operating cost. A public meeting held yesterday to determine community interest in the 55-year-old landmark attracted a number of community clubs that want to use the facility.

THIRTY YEARS AGO

Rob Forbes, publisher of the Brandon Sun and Brandon Today, has announced that the operation of Brandon Today will move from its present location at 630 14th St. East to the Brandon Sun building at 501 Rosser Ave.

A $1-million project to provide the village of Cypress River with a new water source will proceed this summer.

A legion of volunteers are busy this week preparing the Keystone Centre for the Scott Tournament of Hearts national women’s curling championship.

TWENTY YEARS AGO

With Manitoba facing a shortage of French immersion teachers, members of the Brandon School Division took a trip to the East Coast to recruit new graduates. In the past, the division has recruited graduates from the College Universitaire de St. Boniface in Winnipeg, but this year they decided to expand their search. The recruiters spent a week, from Feb. 10-14, at career fairs at the University de Moncton in New Brunswick and the University of Prince Edward Island.
