Delays of up to six months faced by western Manitobans waiting to have their hearing tested will be a thing of the past after a new testing facility opened at the Westman Regional Hearing Centre. The new $75,000 testing unit is the second to be installed in the basement of the Provincial Building.

THIRTY YEARS AGO

Nearly four dozen farmers, from around the Lyleton area, have rallied to save Andy McMechan’s farm from foreclosure by hauling barley to the United States. McMechan isn’t allowed to go within a half-mile of the border as a result of charges relating to a barley-hauling incident earlier this month.
