Hey there, time traveller!

One Shoal Lake resident is still in disbelief after meeting an unexpected traveller on the side of Highway 16 Sunday night.
Mandy Rogasky spent the weekend in Winnipeg with a friend. Out of many conversations throughout the weekend, she specifically recalls having one about Winnipeg musician Sierra Noble.
“I’m a fan of her music … I follow her Facebook page,” Rogasky said. “We just got on the subject of Sierra Noble … which makes this story just completely awesome.”
Rogasky and her husband, Tim, were heading back to Shoal Lake in separate cars when Tim saw a vehicle pulled over and a woman waving her arms in the air to flag him down, Rogasky said.
“My husband was ahead of me and I saw that he pulled over. He said there was a lady who needed help,” Rogasky said.
Rogasky stopped and went over to the stranded travellers to introduce herself while the car was being boosted. After small talk revealed that the driver was a musician on the Home Routes tour, Rogasky said she realized she was helping Sierra Noble.
“I was just in shock,” Rogasky said. “I was like, ‘I was just talking about you yesterday with my friend.’ We were just both kind of floored that we had this connection.”
Noble signed a CD and posed for pictures with Rogasky in front of the car to capture the full effect of their chance meeting, Rogasky said.
“The universe is amazing. It was literally at the intersection of my town where I turn in. If she had been a few kilometres ahead, I never would have seen her — everything lined up,” Rogasky said.
After realizing it was Noble’s alternator causing the problem, the couple showed Noble to a hotel and a repair shop.
“She gave us really big hugs and was so grateful,” Rogasky said. “She was very kind, just a really genuine, nice person.”
Noble posted about the experience on Facebook, explaining the ordeal and calling the couple her “guardian angels.”
“Obviously, I gave her a copy of (the album “City of Ghosts”) and my undying eternal gratitude for saving us in basically the middle of nowhere,” Noble wrote, tagging a picture of her and Rogasky.
“I was just scrolling through my Facebook and I saw her post. It was a surreal feeling just to see that,” Rogasky said.
Noble also added Rogasky as a friend on her personal Facebook, Rogasky said, and messaged her to thank her again and let her know they’d be on the road in time to make it to her next gig.
“I’m just so grateful that we came across her and were able to help so she can continue on her tour,” Rogasky said.
In the end, Rogasky said they were just trying to live up to the province’s name of “Friendly Manitoba.”
“Be kind and pay it forward to help others. It shows that there’s still good people out there,” Rogasky said.
“Part of living in Westman and the charming, small-town life is that you meet really great people.”
This is a once in a lifetime meeting that Rogasky will never forget.
“It’s just an amazing feeling, it was an amazing experience, something that I’ll be telling people for years to come for sure.”
