The ballot is official. Voters in Brandon’s Meadows Ward will have a trio of candidates to choose from in next month’s byelection.
Tuesday’s deadline for nominations came and went without any last-minute surprises, so the three on the ballot are already familiar names, but the city made it official with a notice posted today.
Ramona Coey, John LoRegio and Vanessa Hamilton will by vying to replace Jim McCrae, who resigned earlier this year to take a position in Winnipeg as a citizenship judge.
The byelection is set for Wednesday, June 26, and polling stations will be open between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Ward residents will be able to vote at J.R. Reid School, at Meadows School or at Hillcrest Place.
Voters will be required to produce one piece of government-issued photo ID (for example a driver’s license or passport) or at least two other documents that provide proof of identity.
Advance voting will be held in the main foyer of City Hall on Thursda, June 20, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
There are also provisions for voting by mail or by fax.
