Glen Hanlon was the goalie's name and his hair might have had a little more red in it than blonde.
Wasn't another name, Rick Blight, who played with Ron Chipperfield?
Rick Knickle?

I actually just had an IDEA!
I'd like to see the City of Brandon; The Brandon Wheat King hockey organization, whomever, to have a REMATCH of that 1979 Memorial Cup game against The Peterborough Petes.
We could have this game in Brandon.
They would be OLD TIMERS now but I wonder IF we could beat them now?
HOW ABOUT IT, Brandon Wheat King hockey organization?
I'd like to see, IF AFTER ALL OF THESE YEARS, IF we could beat them now?
I realize that MANY YEARS have gone by, but I'd like to see IF the outcome of this game WOULD BE ANY DIFFERENT than it was ALL those years ago?
I think that someone should put this idea out there to ALL of those players involved.
They could START WORKING OUT NOW, GETTING IN SHAPE, etc.
It would be a SERIOUS GAME; just like it was, back in 1979.
I would absolutely LOVE to see these FAMOUS TEAMMATES; alumni from our hockey past, for some, their "hockey small g, gods," return to Brandon and play this rematch.
How about it?
What does EVERYONE think?
Let's put this idea out there and SEE IF ALL OF THE PLAYERS INVOLVED FROM BOTH TEAMS WOULD BE INTERESTED IN THIS REMATCH?
Could there be a SPECIAL TROPHY produced for this rematch?
Let us, just for once, THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX within our City, put this idea out there for the players to mull over, contemplate, think about, etc.
ALMOST EVERY BRANDON WHEAT KING HOCKEY PLAYER I have ever spoken to, that played that game in 1979, said, "Boy, if we could just play that game over again."

How ABSOLUTELY EXTRAORDINARY and FITTING for us to win in overtime like this! How THRILLING is this accomplishment for the Brandon Wheat Kings and for the city of Brandon!
GO BRANDON, GO!
I WOULD have been at the game but I was attending my daughter's Confirmation at St. Augustine's church instead.
I would have LOVED to have seen Brad McCrimmon again.
Just mentioning these HISTORIC names and the MEMORIES start flooding back.
We REALLY NEED a Manitoba film producer, or SOMEONE to write a script and make a MOVIE of our 1979 Brandon Wheat Kings hockey team; the GREATEST Wheat King team EVER!
We had MORE Brandon Wheat King hockey players, in the history of the Brandon Wheat King franchise, MAKE IT INTO THE NHL, from that 1979 NHL hockey draft, than we have ever had!
Billy Derlago, Brian Propp, Brad McCrimmon, Ray Allison, Laurie Boschman, Dave Semenko, the blonde haired goalie, I remember his face, I just forget his name. We had Ron Hextall, and MANY OTHERS in the following years.
Do you remember Ron Chipperfield and the other names during his time?
I just forget some of those other names.
We had our INFAMOUS COACH, DUNC MCCULLUM; the team Manager, Smokey.
What were ALL of their names?
A LIST should be up somewhere.
We should have a WALL OF HONOR on the walls of Westman Place to forever MORTALIZE and HONOR this hockey team and the accomplishments of SO MANY OTHER former Wheat King hockey players.
Most recent players include Jordin Tootoo and SO MANY OTHERS.
