A 58-year-old woman was arrested yesterday after she replaced medical care with alternative forms of therapy for her elderly mother, who subsequently got sick and has since passed away.
According to police, the accused stopped providing medical care for her mother between the months of June and November 2014 because she believed in alternative forms of treatment.
When her mother became increasing ill, family members called police to intervene. The mother was transported to the hospital where she passed away, police said.

Her daughter was arrested yesterday on a charge of failure to provide the necessaries of life to a person under charge. A crown attorney from Manitoba Public Prosecutions, where the investigation was forwarded after being completed, indicated charges should be laid.
The accused will appear in court in August.
