Brandon has requested the military be sent in to help out with the flood fight, minister responsible for EMO Steve Ashton told the Manitoba Legislature this afternoon.
"My understanding is the assistance will be arriving this afternoon," he said, noting many troops will come from CFB Shilo.
The province has called in the troops to help with the flood battle but, as of Sunday, none had been been deployed to help build up Brandon dikes.
The members of the military were originally to reinforce dikes between Portage la Prairie and Headingley.
