Hey there, time traveller!

There’s no doubt the biggest event of the summer of 2014 will be the World Cup in Brazil.
The TV audience for this marquee sporting event will be measured in billions as the world’s best chase the glory of world champions of the Beautiful Game.
But if you can’t make it to Brazil, you might want to consider the second biggest event of the summer: A camping experience at Wannakumbac.
Since 1948, our camping audience has created literally billions of memories from a week at Wannakumbac, a beautiful camp on the shores of Clear Lake in Riding Mountain National Park.
“We pride ourselves in offering campers a world-class experience that delivers fun, friends and learning,” said Wannakumbac manager Darren Gusdal. Much like the World Cup, Wannakumbac has changed as it has grown, making it one of the province’s best camps.
Fully accredited by the Manitoba Camping Association, Wannakumbac offers one-week camping sessions for boys and girls aged eight to 15. The staff of counsellors and program staff are not only well-trained, but also know how to connect with each child in a meaningful way.
“I am both delighted and honoured to be the summer camp director this year,” said Kristian Rents. “I’ve enjoyed my years as camp counsellor and look forward to helping lead a tradition that has delivered amazing memories for 66 summers.”
Never content to rest on its laurels, Wannakumbac has added a number of new programming touches.
For instance, campers now get to learn how to fish. We’ve added classes in yoga which have been a big hit. There’s also our mountain-biking program for those who want a bigger physical challenge.
“If you are looking for a real kick this summer and can’t get to Brazil, then come to Wannakumbac,” Gusdal said. “After all, we will have all that the World Cup offers, from drama to music to excitement to energy. And to top it all off, we will even add a soccer tournament.”
Camp Wannakumbac is a not-for-profit, registered charity and is run by the Wasagaming Foundation, which is composed of our generous sponsors: Federated Co-operatives, Manitoba’s credit unions, Keystone Agricultural Producers, Manitoba Elks Association, Co-op Hail Insurance, The Co-operators, Dairy Farmers of Manitoba, and Parrish & Heimbecker.
