Calling all artists — the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba is inviting submissions of collaborative works by artists and creators from in and around Brandon for the 2012 Culture Days community exhibition, “Imaginable Forms.”
The gallery will display everything it receives until it runs out of space — approximately the first 100 pieces. Submissions by children and youth, as well as artists of all ages and skill levels, are encouraged.
The exhibition will take place in the Community Gallery from Sept. 21-Nov.10, in conjunction with the 2012 Culture Days.
In keeping with the collaborative and interdisciplinary spirit of Culture Days, the gallery is hoping for art pieces made by teams of two or more creators: friends working together; family projects; office team building exercises that led to beautiful things; community groups making things; poets with artists; writers with illustrators; dancers with photographers or painters; farmers with sculptors; and all other imaginable forms of collaborative making.
These works can transcend disciplines and be in any media, as long as they can be displayed on the walls of the gallery or on plinths.
Please limit submissions to fewer than three per team, and a maximum size of four feet by four feet. The pieces can be dropped off during the first two weeks of September, until Sept. 12 during gallery opening hours: Tuesday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and until 9 p.m. on Thursdays.
If you are not sure if your collaborative piece qualifies for the exhibition, or have an idea you would like to discuss, contact Natalia Lebedinskaia at curator@agsm.ca or 204-727-1036, ext.105.
