The final of five offenders has pleaded guilty for his role in an armed robbery of a Brandon convenience store.

Jordan Myles Frederick McKinney, 21, pleaded guilty in Brandon Court of Queen’s Bench on Monday to robbery with a weapon.

He took part in the heist by providing a knife to one of three youths who carried it out.

McKinney was one of five offenders out for a ride in a stolen pickup truck on the morning of Sept. 27, 2013.

McKinney, Terry James Moar and three youth headed for Portage la Prairie, but realized they didn’t have enough gas, so they returned to Brandon and robbed the 7-Eleven on Willowdale Crescent.

McKinney gave one of the youths a hunting knife, a second youth was armed with a bat and the third took a shotgun that had been stashed in the back of the truck.

While McKinney and Moar waited in the truck, the armed boys robbed the store of cigarettes and $20.

One of the youths pointed the shotgun at the clerk’s face before he and his accomplices fled.

McKinney, who will be sentenced at a later date, received some of the stolen cigarettes.

He’s the last of the five accused to be sentenced. Moar, who was the getaway driver and took part in the planning, was sentenced to four years in prison minus five months remand time.

The youth with the knife received two years of probation, the one with the gun received a total sentence of 14 months in jail and probation, and the teen with the baseball bat got six months in jail and probation.
