The Brandon Sun would like to wish readers a happy and safe long weekend and Louis Riel Day. Here’s a list of open hours for some important services this holiday Monday:
Your newspaper
• The Brandon Sun won’t publish on Monday, but returns on Tuesday.
City of Brandon
• The Civic Administration Building and Civic Services Complex will be closed on Monday.
Transit
• Only Handi-Transit will run on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Buses won’t run, the Transit Office and the Transit Information Centre will be closed.
Travel
• Buses at the Grey Goose-Greyhound bus depot. Call 727-0643 for times.
Liquor
• Most Liquor Marts will be open on Monday. Specifically, the stores at the corner of Victoria Avenue and 10th Street and the Corral Centre will be open that day from noon to 6 p.m. The shop at the Shoppers Mall will open from noon to 5 p.m.
• Liquor Marts in Dauphin and Neepawa will be open from noon to 5 p.m. but the stores in Virden, Minnedosa, Russell, Killarney and Roblin will be closed on Monday.
• Privately owned beer and liquor vendors may be open, subject to arrangements within their own municipalities.
• All licensed premises in the province may be open for liquor service on Louis Riel Day.
Health
• Only Brandon Clinic West will be open on Monday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Rosser Medical Group, Brandon Clinic, Newmount Medical, Wheat City, Western Medical and Trinity Medical clinics are all closed.
Garbage
• There will be no garbage collection on Monday and Tuesday will be Day 1 of the garbage collection cycle.
• The Eastview Landfill Site will be open Monday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
• The Eco Centre for used oil, oil filters and oil container disposal is closed on Sundays and all statutory holidays.
Canada Post
• Canada Post offices are closed on Monday and there will be no regular mail delivery and collection that day. However, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.
