Thanks for getting us moving
Is it just me or did the lights get adjusted at 18th Street and Richmond Avenue in the turning lanes going toward the east? I noticed there were at least three vehicles, maybe four, able to turn east at the corner of 18th and Richmond. That is so wonderful. I must commend whoever did that.
Take a look at Conservative history
In response to the Jan. 30 Sound Off “Enough Of The Fearmongering,” it seems highly unlikely that Brian Pallister’s Conservative government would cancel the rebuilding of the First Street bridge. However, Brian’s ex-boss, Gary Filmon, and his Tory government in 1993 stopped construction of the twinning of the Trans-Canada Highway from the west edge of Virden to the north junction of Highway 83. This project was in mid-stream with some of the sub-grade already built. The Tories then went on to cancel any future construction on the Trans-Canada and then gutted the infrastructure budget. So, is this fearmongering, or fear of repeating Tory history?
I say bring the refugees to Melita
I am a resident of Melita and I think I have a solution to the refugee crisis and to a poor economy in Melita now that the oil industry has gone to “crap,” for lack of a better word. We have a beautiful PTI camp sitting in Melita empty — it has been empty since it was built. It was built for oilfield workers. It can house 300 people easily. It is a beautiful building, beautiful facility with room for worship and everything. I think it would be an ideal safe location for refugees coming to Canada trying to get a new start. It would help the economy in Melita, help the refugees and it would help PTI. To me, it is a win-win situation.
No need to pay fuel surcharges
With fuel prices being at their lowest in years, why are companies still charging a fuel surcharge on invoices? There was a valid reason to add them when fuel prices were high, but not now. Did you know that Canada Post charges a fuel surcharge today to send an Express Post envelope to Winnipeg? This additional charge today is just a cash grab!
In need of volunteer drivers
A friend of mine drives her loved one to Brandon for kidney dialysis 50 miles and she is the only family member, so she’s stressed out and tired. Wouldn’t it be great if there were volunteers to drive patients to appointments or for treatments like there is for cancer patients to help family members?
First time I missed Winter Festival
Having no free bus rides for the Winter Festival was very disappointing. As I am a senior, I did not attend for the first time.
