Replacement officials better than nothing

I am a big fan of NFL football. It really irks me when players, coaches, commentators and fans whine about the “replacement officials.” I guess when the players, coaches, commentators and fans become perfect and never make mistakes, then they can whine about the officials! Don’t forget, without these “replacement officials” there would be no games! Maybe the powers that be in the NFL should consider opening their wallets and paying the “regular officials” a decent salary! After all, players, coaches and commentators are doing “fairly well.” By the way, I really do hope that the NHL lockout lasts all season. Maybe then the grossly overpaid players and the greedy managers will smarten up! Fans, if they do reach a CBA, boycott the arenas! Do not go! Then see what happens!

You didn’t read what I was saying

Regarding bellyaching: My response about bellyaching and trivial had to do with you saying you were late for work, not all the stuff you have added to the Sound Off in Tuesday’s paper! Have to say though, the train tracks have been here a long time, so have you come up with a way to get them moved somewhere else?

Fix it properly

To the folks who voted NDP in the last election. Are you proud of Victoria Avenue road conditions? That is classified as a highway and what has the government done to repair it or better still, replace the pavement properly instead of the patch up job that they are doing? It is an embarrassment to the city.

Where are the NDP critics now?

Wasn’t long ago people were upset with the NDP government for its hog moratorium and here we are with the existing farms not able to survive or to feed their stock. Now the hog producers need the government’s help to keep the animals alive.

If you can’t work up a smile …

I think it’s about time that people in the customer service industry, i.e. store clerks, insurance clerks, in fact anyone dealing with the public directly, learn manners and how to treat people. It is disgusting to see the snarls on their faces and they can hardly give you a smile. Like their job is just too much effort. Well, if that is the case, get out of the service industry and find a job where you’re hidden in a hole all day without having to deal with the public. Maybe it’s time for these people to learn some skills on how to respect the public who are keeping their businesses afloat.

I can’t get out

How much longer is Victoria Avenue East going to be closed off? It has been closed off for about a month and a half already and it makes it very difficult when all the other construction is going on in the east end to get out of town.
