The Brandon University Bobcats soccer teams posted a perfect 4-0 record over the weekend.
The Bobcats beat the Red River College Rebels 2-1 in men’s action and 1-0 in the women’s match in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference on Sunday afternoon at the Vincent Massey High School pitch.
In the men’s game, Osian Edwards and Basiru Wasiu Ademola, with the game-winner, scored the goals while goalkeeper Trevor Lewarne earned the win in net as the Bobcats improved to 3-6-0.
Meanwhile, Bailee Ploshynsky scored the goal and Sydney Carter-Squire posted her second straight shutout in the women’s match as BU improved to 3-2-2.
On Saturday, Vasilios Giannopoulos scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner with 10 minutes left, as the Bobcats men’s squad edged the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 3-2 at the Massey pitch. Taylor Blue supplied the other goal for BU.
In the women’s game, Jaycee Castle and Ploshynsky both scored twice and Carter-Squire earned the clean sheet as the Bobcats beat the Blazers 4-0.
Meanwhile, the ACC Cougars went winless over the weekend, as the women’s soccer squad (0-5-2) fell 5-1 to the Providence University College Pilots on Sunday in Otterburne. The ACC men’s team (1-8-0) was whipped 9-0 by Providence on Sunday, after the Cougars forfeited their Saturday game to Saint Boniface.
