Ryan Meadows scored in overtime to give the Beaver Brae Broncos of Kenora, Ont., a 6-5 win over the Vincent Massey Vikings in opening-day action Thursday at the Genesis Hospitality High School Hockey Tournament in Brandon.
Curt Zilinski had two goals and an assist for the Broncos. Chris Sitko scored twice for the Vikings, while Tyler D’Aoust had a goal and three assists.
In other games Thursday, it was:
Dryden, Ont. 4 Rivers 1
Alex Calvert and Jake Berrey each had a goal and an assist for Dryden.
Virden 4 Crocus 0
Drayson Hellyer posted the shutout. Trevor Lewarne had three points.
Dauphin 6 Carman 2
Jarrett Bay of Dauphin and Mike Lyon of Carman each had two goals.
Stonewall 9 Souris 0
Keenan Pasternak had the shutout. Barrett Schlag, Adam Boulton and Scott Bird each had two goals each.
Three other games were still in progress at press time.
