J.J. Cruikshank scored on a scramble in front of the net in the third overtime period Sunday night to lift the host Waywayseecappo Wolverines to a 3-2 win over the Dauphin Kings.
With the win, the Wolverines tie their Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s best-of-seven Sher-Wood Division semifinal at 1-1.
Russell Turner and Alex Mills scored in regulation time for Wayway, while Pilot Mound’s Brett Pinkerton picked up one assist. Brandonite Mitch Van Teeling netted both markers for Dauphin.
Cory Simons made 49 saves for Wayway.
In Sunday’s other games, it was: Steinbach Pistons 3, Portage Terriers 2 in double overtime; and Winnipeg Blues 1, Winkler Flyers 0 in overtime.
On Saturday, it was OCN Blizzard 2, Swan Valley Stampeders 1.
Pistons 3 Terriers 2 (2OT)
At Portage la Prairie, Justin Dalebozik scored the game-winner with 20 seconds left in the second overtime period to lift the Pistons to a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven Addison Division semifinal. The Treherne native assisted on Steinbach’s other two goals and Myles Nykoluk picked up three assists.
Dylan Butler and Cole Hamblin replied for Portage, which got an assist from Dauphin’s Justin Slobozian. Cory Koop made 44 saves for Steinbach.
Blues 1 Flyers 0 (OT)
At Winkler, Jake Heisinger scored 1:16 into overtime to give the Blues a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven Addison Division semifinal. Luke Paulssen assisted on the game’s lone goal. Byron Spriggs stopped 26 shots to earn the shutout for Winnipeg. Reed Peters made 21 saves for Winkler.
Blizzard 2 Stampeders 1
At The Pas, Kolton Baptiste and Jack Petrino scored for the Blizzard as they took a 1-0 lead in their best-of-seven Sher-Wood Division semifinal. Dylan Favell replied for the Stampeders, who got a 42-save performance from Landon Noel. Justin McDonald stopped 28 shots for the Blizzard.
