Former Brandon University Bobcat Earnest Bell is going into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame.
Bell was one of three athletes and four builders who were announced as part of this year’s class on Tuesday. He was with the Bobcats men’s basketball team from 1999 to 2001 and was named an all-Canadian and Great Plains Athletic Conference MVP in both of his seasons at BU while helping the Bobcats reach the a pair of national finals.
Bell played in 40 games and posted 776 points (averaging 19.4 per game) and 349 rebounds (averaging 8.7 per contest).
He’s joined by Terry Garrow and Erin Soroko-Drazic in the players’ category. Coleen Dufresne, Hymie Fox, Maureen Orchard and Ralph Watts are entering as builders, while the Selkirk Royals boys’ team from 1977 to 1981 and girls’ squad from 1975, 1976 and 1978 are going in the team category.
The induction banquet will take place Oct. 3 in Winnipeg .
