Hey there, time traveller!

Mark Mieritz’s road trip will be a lot longer than that of his teammates as the Brandon Wheat Kings head out on a two-game Alberta swing this weekend.
Mieritz will be with the Wheat Kings for their road games against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday night and the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday night, before parting ways with the Western Hockey League team.
Mieritz, Brandon’s lone pick in this year’s CHL Import Draft, will fly to Germany to join the Danish national junior team as they prepare for the Division 1-Group B (second tier) world junior hockey championship.

The 19-year-old first-year right-winger is a veteran of Denmark’s national junior program, but he said playing in Canada has added some new complications to competing for his country.
"It’s a lot different," Mieritz said this week. "Now when I look at all the flights and there’s been complications with the flights and stuff. I try to stay longer in Brandon so I can get another game here, but I have to go to Germany and play two exhibition games for the Danish national team."
The Division 1-B championship is slated to run Dec. 12-18 in Slovenia.
After that, Mieritz will head home to Denmark for a holiday visit, then return to Canada and fly straight to Calgary with Swedish teammate Hampus Gustafsson to rejoin the Wheat Kings for their post-Christmas road trip.
It will be a hectic schedule for sure, but Mieritz said it will be well worth it if he can help Denmark win the Division 1-B championship and earn a promotion into the main pool of the world junior championship for next season.
"This year, we have the best (Danish) team ever, so this is the best opportunityto get up in the ‘A’ group," said Mieritz, who has one goal and six points in 27 WHL games in his rookie season with the Wheat Kings.
"The last two years, I’ve been playing in three finals (including under-18 events) and we’ve lost all three, so it’s been pretty tough the last two years. So I hope we get the chance this year."
