The new Virden team in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League will be known as the Oil Capitals.

The Virden ownership group unveiled its new name on Wednesday, adopting red and black colours on a logo that features hockey sticks and oil pump jacks reflective of the booming industry in the area.

The Virden ownership group purchased the former Winnipeg Saints franchise last month and transferred it to the southwestern Manitoba town to play in the new Virden Recreational Facility in the 2012-13 MJHL campaign.
