TRIVIA TIME: How many Wheat Kings coaches have won more than 100 games? Who are they?

A WEEK OF FIRSTS: The Wheat Kings’ win over Edmonton on Friday was their first in four starts against the Oil Kings this season. Their overtime loss to Saskatoon on Monday was their first loss against the Blades in five games this season.

HOME SWEET HOME: Brandon has 19 wins at home, best in the East Division, third in the Eastern Conference and sixth in the Western Hockey League. The best home team this season is Lethbridge, with 25 wins, followed by Kelowna (24) and Seattle (23). Kootenay has the fewest with eight, followed by Saskatoon (11) and Medicine Hat (12).

AND ON THE ROAD: Brandon is tied for most road wins with Victoria (18). Kootenay has won just twice away from home, followed by Swift Current (eight) and Vancouver (nine).

ALUMNI GLANCE: Toni Rajala of Finland is playing with Lulea HF in the Swedish Hockey League, where he has 14 goals and 14 assists in 46 games this season. The 24-year-old forward played the 2009-10 season in Brandon, scoring 26 times and adding 37 assists in 60 games. He led the Wheat Kings with seven points in five games at the Memorial Cup in Brandon. In his one pro season in North America, he played with the Stockton Thunder of the East Coast League (29gm, 18g, 20a) and the Oklahoma City Barons (46gm, 17g, 28a) in 2012-13.

A BIG PLUS: Jayce Hawryluk’s tremendous month of February (10gm, 7g, 23a, 30p) has boosted him into second place in the league’s plus-minus rating at plus-40. Who does he trail? Wheat Kings defenceman Ivan Provorov has led the category for virtually the entire season. He is currently plus-44.

SCORING FROM THE BACK: Two teams have four of the top six scoring defencemen in the WHL. Brandon has Macoy Erkamps (tied for second, 60gm, 10g, 48a, 58p) and Provorov (fifth, 50gm, 13g, 42a, 55p). Calgary has Jake Bean (fourth, 59gm, 22g, 34a, 56p) and Travis Sanheim (sixth, 41gm, 10g, 42a, 52p). Andrew Nielsen of Lethbridge leads with 60 points (59gm, 15g, 45a) and Ethan Bear of Seattle is tied for second with 58 points (59gm, 17g, 41a, 58p).

THE ANSWER: The Wheat Kings have had three coaches win more than 100 games. They are Kelly McCrimmon (454), Bob Lowes (363) and Dunc McCallum (251). Both Dean Clark and Rudy Pilous, who are tied for fourth place in franchise history, have 85 wins.

THE WEEK AHEAD: Brandon remains on the road this weekend, with games in Lethbridge on Friday and Moose Jaw on Saturday. They host the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday at Westman Place at 7 p.m., in one of three games against their East Division rival in March.
