The Brandon Wheat Kings have fired head coach Cory Clouston with one year remaining on his contract.
The Western Hockey League club cut ties with the former NHL bench boss on Tuesday, less than a year after signing him to a two-year deal last summer. The Wheat Kings went 39-28-1-4 in Clouston’s only season in Brandon, upsetting the Calgary Hitmen in the first round of the playoffs before losing in the second round to the eventual WHL champion Edmonton Oil Kings, who are now off to the Memorial Cup.
