Wake up out there!

Friday the 13th proved it’s not a bad luck day but more of how much bad luck you make it! At approximately 12:30 p.m. at the corner of 18th Street and Victoria Avenue, I watched not one, but three vehicles “deliberately” pull out in front of an oncoming ambulance that had its emergency lights and siren on. The ambulance driver had to brake to avoid you. What is wrong with you idiots? I heard and saw the ambulance and I was eight cars back on the opposite side! I guess your precious time is worth more than the lives that you put at risk! Seriously, we just had one fatality between a vehicle and an ambulance.

Kudos to Canad Inns

This is a big bouquet to the Canad Inns for their New Year’s Eve gala. I enjoyed the band, the atmosphere was terrific and the food was fantastic. Thanks for the great night. I will be back next year.

We need to pay some taxes

Why do some people think that taxes can’t go up? They always do, but sometimes in sneaky ways. At last the current city council is putting their cards on the table. Sure, nobody wants to pay a lot of taxes, but the city doesn’t run on buttons and goodwill.

You make me laugh

I really have to laugh when the left-wing media complains about their left-wing government’s refusal to make their Brandon MLA a cabinet minister. Two premiers have repeatedly passed him over. It should be obvious to all that he is simply not cabinet material. They are the best judges of this, not you.

No need to dumb it down

With BU changing students’ marks to a “P” for pass instead of leaving them as a percentage, sounds like they are adopting the Brandon School Division’s policy of giving students an “A” for approaching, “M” for meeting, “E” for exceeding. Isn’t it all based on a percentage anyways? Let’s have a marking system that is clear, makes sense, and is understandable. Percentage marks seem to be clear, make sense and are understandable to me.

Glory but no guts

Brandon Sun’s Friday front page showed Greg Selinger and Drew Caldwell visiting Brandon University to get in on the glory of the new Healthy Living Centre. The pair may have glory but no guts after doing nothing to help end the strike dispute a few months ago. The two have some kind of nerve! Instead of visiting the university that they ruined, they should be busy at work passing a charter to ensure that another strike will not occur again. If something is not done to resolve the constant issues, the university may have lots of fancy buildings with no students in them.
