Just like real ducks and geese, Westman’s snowbirds are getting ready make their escape to warmer climes down south.
But before they go, the Canadian Snowbird Association wants to throw them a party, complete with entertainment and the latest information and advice on travelling during the upcoming year.
The free concert takes place on Friday from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium.
Doors open at noon and all members of the public are welcome.
Entertainment will feature Canada’s No. 1 comedy duo Bowser and Blue, East Coast comedian and television personality Jimmy Flynn and Celtic balladeer Tom Leadbeater.
The Canadian Snowbird Association is a 70,000-member, national not-for-profit advocacy organization dedicated to actively defending and improving the rights and privileges of travelling Canadians.
After much lobbying on the part of the snowbird association, U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) have introduced a bi-partisan bill in the United States Senate that would create a “Retired Persons’ Visa” for Canadian citizens age 50 and over.
If passed, this would increase the time holders of this visa could spend in the U.S. in a 12-month period by 60 days from 180 to 240 days.
Friday’s concert is one of a series of single-afternoon special presentations held across Canada, hosted by the snowbirds association in partnership with Medipac International.
