A 21-year-old Portage la Prairie man faces several charges after allegedly going on a vehicle rampage on Cornwallis Crescent.
On Saturday morning, Brandon police responded to a report that a man was rifling through vehicles. Shortly after, a suspect matching the description of the man was apprehended by police.
After the man was arrested, the extent of the rampage began to flood in.
First, a homeowner in the area reported that someone had entered a garage and damaged the vehicle inside. He also removed items from the vehicle and caused damage to the driveway.
Then, another report was receive that a man attempted to steal a truck, damaging the steering column in the process and stealing items from the vehicle.
Furthermore, a third report was received that suggested a man entered a garage and took keys for a vehicle in the driveway. He used the key to start the vehicle, but could not exit the driveway because he was boxed in. He then took a pry bar and used it to damage a vehicle in the driveway of a neighbouring residence.
The intoxicated suspect was lodged overnight at Brandon Correctional Centre.
He faces eight charges and was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Portage la Prairie.
