An emergency exercise planned for today has been cancelled due to actual emergency.

“Exercise High Pressure” was to be a joint training session this morning that would test how well multiple agencies dealt with a pretend gas leak. However, several of the agencies involved are swamped with fallout from the heavy rains and flooding, and the exercise has been cancelled.

The exercise was to be a joint undertaking by the Manitoba Provincial Inter-Utility Committee and the Brandon Emergency Support Team, in co-operation with the City of Brandon, Manitoba Hydro, MTS Allstream, Westman Communications Group and Brandon University. It was to take place in an area west of Brandon University.

There’s no word on a rescheduled date for the exercise.
