The NDP has moved its nomination meeting for the Brandon-Souris riding to tomorrow.
“Because the federal byelection is expected to be called anytime, the NDP nomination meeting has been moved up to Thursday, September 26th,” said Vanessa Hamilton, president of the federal NDP association for Brandon-Souris, via Facebook.
Two candidates will vie for the nomination — Brandon Labour Council president Cory Szczepanski and locomotive engineer John Bouché.
Media executive Rolf Dinsdale is seeking the Liberal nomination. Killarney-Turtle Mountain Mayor Rick Pauls will run as an independent, while the Conservative Party of Canada acclaimed former Arthur-Virden MLA Larry Maguire as its candidate.
There is no candidate for the Green Party.
No date has been set for the byelection, which was triggered when former MP Merv Tweed resigned.
