A woman is out $1,500 after applying for a job that turned out to be a scam.
She told police that she had replied to a classified ad to become a silent shopper and was sent a cheque in the mail for $1,887. She was instructed to cash the cheque and to send back $1,500 through Western Union and to keep the rest of the money.
However, she later learned from her credit union that the cheque was a fake.
The fraud was reported around 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday.
