The RM of Pipestone is ramping up its efforts to keep residents shopping locally while wooing investors to set up shop in the region.

Starting this month, a slew of print posters and social media postings will highlight businesses that “rock” in the municipality.

“The RM will be showcasing the successful attributes of these businesses along with the opportunities that exist in the area,” economic development officer Tanis Chalmers said in a news release. “What makes their business great may make your new business investment prosper!”

Participating businesses include Cromer Valley Construction, Cromer Valley Store, Crop Production Services, Forza Italia Bed and Breakfast, Irwin Automotive Ltd., Mar-dee Enterprises, Moore Electric, Reston Drugs, Smith’s Sales and Service, Spearing Services, and Sunrise Credit Union Ltd., Reston Branch.

The program will run for a three- to four-month period during which each business will be promoted by the municipality on several occasions. Not only will the businesses and opportunities be showcased, but reusable bags will be available while supplies last at each participating business.

“Our local businesses are successful, but working as a team makes them stronger and more profitable,” Chalmers said.

The purpose of the program is to not only showcase local businesses and endorse shopping locally, but also to communicate the potential for business growth in the area.

“The RM of Pipestone is an investor’s paradise,” Chalmers said. “Known for its location in proximity to the petroleum industry, they also boast prime real-estate and cash incentives for those that invest in the future of the rural municipality.”

With the purchase or construction of a business in the RM, business investments qualify for acash incentive up to $32,000. This grant figure is based on the assessed value of the building constructed or purchased.
