Florida Panthers’ general manager Dale Tallon announced Tuesday that Wheat Kings forward Jayce Hawryluk has agreed to the terms of an entry-level contract.
"This is a special day for Jayce and comes at a time when he is playing his best hockey,” said Wheat Kings’ general manager Kelly McCrimmon, in a statement. “I’m sure that he is happy to have this behind him and is looking forward to the remainder of the season and the WHL playoffs.”
The 20-year-old recorded 79 points over 49 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings this season, with 33 of those points over the course of 13 games.
The 5’10", 194-pound native of Roblin, Man. has played in 223 WHL games and has recorded 251 points. He was selected by Florida in the second round of the 2014 NHL Draft (32nd overall).
Jayce Hawryluk becomes the fourth member of this year’s team to sign on the dotted line with an NHL club.
The terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
