DUNDURN, Sask. — Officer Cadet Trenton Klimack, of Brandon — a member of the 38 Combat Engineer Regiment in Winnipeg — played a vital role in Exercise BISON WARRIOR (Ex BW), which took place at CFAD Dundurn, Sask., from Aug. 13 to Aug. 21.

Looking for an adventurous career, Klimack joined the Primary Reserve one year ago as an engineer. The third-year University of Manitoba student filled that year with basic military officer training through a series of courses including 10 weeks in Gagetown, New Brunswick, and culminating in this, his first major field exercise.

During Ex BW, Klimack worked with other engineers from Manitoba and Saskatchewan to ensure that friendly troops could live, move and fight on the battlefield. He enjoyed the learning opportunity, working with his team on the tasks of bridge building, obstacle placement, trench digging, and resupplying stores and fuel.
