Quinn Skrupa of the Brandon Eagles earned a bronze medal in the high performance junior division at the national gymnastics championships on Saturday in Montreal.
A year after winning in the novice division, the young Brandonite finished in the top four in three of the four events to finish with an overall score of 50.484 in the older age division.
Skrupa’s scores were vault (13.250, fourth among 19 competitors), uneven bars (11.400, 11th), beam (13.234, second) and floor (12.600, fourth).
Isabela Onyshko finished fifth overall among high performance senior women in her first major competition for the Brandonite since the Rio Olympics last summer.
Onyshko, the defending champion, had an overall score of 52.918, based on vault (13.400, 12th among 18 competitors), uneven bars (12.734, seventh), beam (14.034, first) and floor (12.750, 10th).
Her friend Ellie Black of Halifax won the overall senior women’s title.
