The new and improved Brandon Municipal Airport will hold its official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on July 14.
Members of the public are invited to the event, which will take place at 2:30 p.m.
The $10.4-million redevelopment project began in the fall of 2015, and was cost-shared by the city, province and federal government. The old terminal building is completely renovated, and includes a seamless corridor that connects it to the new structure. Once through security, there is a spacious departures lounge with seating for 102 people, free Wi-Fi, vending machines and additional washrooms. Seats include charging stations for cellphones and other devices.
The terminal is three times the size of the original building, and the hope is that it attracts additional routes and other airlines.
While the airport was fully open for daily flights on May 10, this event will officially mark its completion and offer public tours of the facility.
