Hey there, time traveller!

In our community, we must not lose sight of how we can help the many “hungry hearts.” As we go about our day and go about our lives, it is easy to forget those in our community who may not have life so easy.
There are many things you can do to contribute to the needs in our community. One of them is by donating to Samaritan House Ministries.
Samaritan House is Manitoba’s second-largest food bank and resource centre that meets the needs of approximately 20,000 community members each year. Samaritan House provides so much to the health and well-being of our community. For every contribution that takes place by each person, it creates a ripple effect in our community and in the world.
One of the big Samaritan House fundraisers of the year is the Hungry Hearts Gala. The organization’s second gala was held on May 10 in the Imperial Ballroom of the Victoria Inn. Folks who attended were able to savour a delicious dinner as well as enjoy “Graceland” performed by the Assiniboine Theatre Company, a silent auction, 1950s photo booth and door prizes. All of the funds raised at this event stay right here in the community.
If people are interested in supporting the wonderful work by Samaritan House, the organization is always looking for volunteers, food drives and, of course, financial donations, which help tremendously. And you would also receive a charitable tax receipt.
Samaritan House has been in operation in Brandon for 31 years and has partnered with many community supports working on issues of food security, social justice, homelessness and poverty.
When we all work together, even small efforts can create huge changes. The ripple you create can change the life of another person for better or worse.
What kind of ripple do you want to be in your community?
